Delta Now Giving 2 Years to Rebook Flights

Delta has been allowing people to cancel their flights and receive a credit for the ticket value amid COVID-19 concerns. These credits are generally expire one year after the ticket was purchased, but that has now been extended to May 2022.

Eligible credits will automatically be extended, so you don’t need to take any action. Eligible tickets include:

  • Upcoming travel already booked in April or May 2020 as of April 3, 2020
  • eCredits or canceled travel from flights in March, April or May 2020

Meanwhile, new tickets purchased between March 1 and May 31, 2020, can be changed without a change fee for up to a year from the date of purchase.

Basic Economy Notice

Basic Economy tickets that meet the above criteria are eligible for free change and the two year time frame. Just be aware you may have some extra steps involved. When contacting Delta support about one of my flights, I was informed that I can use the value of my ticket but I would not see the credit in my SkyMiles account. instead, I need to contact their support team to rebook using the credit which is noted in my account.
